It's been a little over a month since Don't Panic Fest: Episode One, took over South Broadway venues, 3 Kings Tavern, Hi-Dive & Mutiny!
Today Denver's Westword named Don't Panic Fest, Denver's best Punk Rock Festival beating out RIOT FEST. That's insane!
This is pretty mind blowing. When I (Damian) texted Vinnie Fasano in a caffeine and allergy medicine fueled manic attack, about doing a three venue, two day music festival; I never dreamed it would turn into the thing we turned it into.
We made this festival happen with only 18 weeks of planning. What was originally envisioned as a way to showcase my favorite Denver bands turned into something so much bigger than I ever could have dreamed. People flew into this thing from all over the country.
It's fucking mind blowing, humbling and surreal. It was a lot of work, but I could not have done any of it had it not been for all of the bands that played, Hi-Dive Denver, Mutiny Information Cafe & 3 Kings Tavern for jumping on board. Denver Westword, The Denver Post & 303 Magazine for all their coverage and support.
But most of all YOU. We could not have done any of this without the super awesome people of Denver (and beyond) who supported this little thing and made it what it became. It's still all so surreal!
We'll be back next year (We're eyeballing Feb 16th-18th). We've already started working on next year's line up. Stay tuned because we're going to be throwing Don't Panic themed shows all year round!
We still have T-shirts, pint glasses and other goodies available in our online store: http://dontpanicfest.limitedrun.com! All proceeds go towards building DPFII!
Our mission is to showcase the best and the brightest punk, garage and
hardcore that Colorado have to offer, while inviting some of our favorite
bands from all over the country! This isn't a "for profit" festival, we're
throwing a party with some of our favorite bands and people. It was
inspired by small community driven festivals such as THE FEST, Awesome
Fest, Death To False Hope, The UMS & What's Left Fest.
Our line up filled up QUICK. There are sooooo many great bands we unable to ask to play this little festival. Unfortunately, our line up is just about complete! We may have more bands to announce, but right now our line up is complete!
Comic book artist and one of Denver's most recognized poster artists, Zak Kinsella provided the most excellent poster art! Zak's work has been seen all over Denver. He was responsible official artwork for the inaugural DINK comic book conventionand has done a number of comedy posters for Denver shows. His work has also been seen in New York Times, Wired and Westword. Find more information on Zak at: http://zakkinsella.com/
